Otaku USA magazine is a redesign project, with a focus on widening its audience by using simpler design aesthetics. Originally, Otaku magazine was bold, bulky, and overwhelming with content. Streamlining content and allowing white space not only creates a more refined look, but allows the reader to digest the information easier and linear (and not read like a 10-year-old who had a six pack of cola for breakfast). The masthead shape shifts and takes on the life of the featured cover story. One month its robotic and rigid, the next its girly and cute.
Deliverables: masthead, table of contents, feature, and spreads.
